A Simple Introduction to Blogging

Blogging is a brilliant way to get out in the online world and an excellent way to start getting recognition as an expert in your chosen field. Over 175,000 people start a new blog every single day, so you definitely want to start out with the right foot forward to, you know, stay ahead of 'the pack'.

When you first start out the first thing you should consider is "Free or Paid?".

Free might sound like a no brainer if you don't know all that much, but I'll just tell you this: If you can afford about 5-8 dollars per month for hosting, and about 9 bucks a year for a domain name, then you should definitely get your own hosting account and your own domain name, it's a whole lot more professional than something like a blogger blog.

What would you rather prefer, and what do you think sounds more professional - "johnsmith.blogspot.com"? Or "www.johnsmith.com"?

That, plus the added benefits and customization abilities that come with your own wordpress blog for example, makes the paid option a no-brainer for anyone that can afford it.

Then all you have to do is start blogging! Just write some posts and you're instantly famous, right?

... sure, but you have to know how to drive traffic, get comments, get links, readers and finally money from your blog, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

If you do it right, you could squeeze out a couple thousand dollars every month from your blog, there are even people making over 5 figures every month from a single blog!
