There are hundreds of people online ready to tell you how to make $100 online. One product currently making the rounds in the Internet marketing world is "20 Ways To Make $100 Per Day Online." There is some good info out there and lots of hype too.

You could rummage through your garage, attic, basement, or closets and look for items to sell on eBay. It wouldn't take long to raise $100 that way - and many people recommend that. But, it's not a business model. You probably spent more on the items than you will sell them for.

A viable business needs to be able to grow and produce more income than it consumes.

What I'm about to share with are 5 steps to building a viable business promoting other peoples products through affiliate programs.

Here are the 5 steps to make 100 online:

1 Locate an affiliate product to sell

2 Produce a 7 part course on a subject related to the product

3 Post the articles to an autoresponder

4 Create a 'Squeeze Page' to capture email leads

5 Write a series of articles to promote the course

There are several places to locate products you can promote as an affiliate. Clickbank and PayDotCom are big for digital products. Many products run their own affiliate programs so you can search Google using the phrase "affiliate program" along with the company or product name to locate these. Try to find products in an active marketplace with multiple products available that are similar to each other. This indicates that there are a lot of customers for the products.

The 7 part course doesn't have to be earth shattering. It just needs to be good useful information. One technique you can use to get started is to search for articles on an article directory like eZineArticles or GoArticles and find 7 thematically related articles. Write a short introduction to the article and a conclusion that gives an action for the reader to take that relates to the content of the article. Then, add a pitch for your affiliate product.

You need to get an autoresponder program or sign up for a service. Autoresponders send a sequence of emails at regular intervals when a person signs up with their email address. Add your emails to the service so that they go out once per day for 7 days.

The web page where you sign up for a mailing list is called a 'squeeze page.' This doesn't need to be fancy. Just a nice headline and a short sales letter explaining the benefits of your email course. The form used to capture the email address will be provided by your autoresponder company and you just cut and paste the code into the page.

Finally, write a series of articles (much like this one) that discuss ideas related to your course. At the end of each article you will have a space to promote your email course and provide a link to the squeeze page. 3-5 500 word articles will be enough to get things moving along. If you really don't like to write, hire a freelancer to ghostwrite them for you. Since they are short and easy to research, the cost will be low.

Once you finished the 5 steps, you can sit back and watch that first $100 flow in online. It's a real thrill. But, you've done a lot more than make $100. This little profit center you've created will continue to make sales month after month. If your course generates a lot of sales, you can invest more time and resources into building up the traffic to your squeeze page. You can also make improvements to the course and website to improve your response rates.

The biggest thing you've done, however, is to create a mailing list of prospects who have given you permission to contact them. You can keep sending them newsletters and promotions. You can promote related products and, if you want to, you can develop your own products to sell to them.
